Funeral Mass...
"If, then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him." Romans 6:8
Because of our belief not only in the immortality of the soul, but also in the resurrection of the body, the Church professes hope in the face of death, and acts with charity in the funeral rites. The Church provides a number of prayers for the faithful to offer both to accompany the dying of a loved one and to strengthen our faith upon their death. Through private prayer and public funeral rites, we strengthen our faith and hope, comfort those who mourn, and bury the bodily remains of the deceased with care befitting what was the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
In this way, we comfort those who mourn, and bury the bodily remains of the deceased with care befitting what was the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
"The Church earnestly recommends that the pious custom of burying the bodies of the deceased be observed; nevertheless, the Church does not prohibit cremation unless it was chosen for reasons contrary to Christian doctrine" (Canon Law 1176.3).
Please be advised that the church asks that the person responsible for making funeral arrangements call the parish office at 512-398-4649 when a parishioner has passed away. But we cannot confirm any arrangements until the family meet with the funeral home of choice first as the funeral home will have to confirm when they can handle the services they in turn will call the parish office to coordinate dates and times with the pastor. Person in charge of arrangements then will set up an appointment with the parish staff to make arrangements for Mass such as lectors, readings and music etc.
